Questions about website migrations

Will I lose rankings when I launch a new website?

A planned migration is the best protection for the rankings you have. Some short term movement in the weeks after launch is normal while Google recrawls the site. With every URL redirected and the content carried over, rankings and traffic usually recover, and often improve because the new site is faster and better structured.

When should you get involved?

Before the new site is built, ideally. Involving us at the planning stage lets us shape the structure and content of the new site rather than patching it after launch. If the site is already built, we can still audit staging and handle the redirects before it goes live.

Do you work with our web designer?

Yes. Most migrations involve a designer or developer building the site and Searchology handling the SEO plan, URL mapping, redirects and launch checks. We brief them clearly and verify their work.

Can you migrate us to a new domain?

Yes. A domain change adds a few steps, including the change of address in Search Console and updating citations and backlinks where possible, and we handle those as part of the plan.

How quickly will I see results?

After determining what “results” means for our clients, we create an SEO forecast and clearly communicate it. Having said that, it’s impossible to approximately pinpoint a specific ranking or amount of leads you will generate in “X” amount of time after investing in SEO. However, generally speaking we can begin to see an improvement in Google visibility within the first few weeks for certain keywords. Do you have previous experience generating leads with SEO?

How long do we need to do SEO for?

With Searchology you’re never locked into a minimum term. You can stop with 30 days’ written notice and start again whenever you like. However, we recommend a minimum period of 6 months to see seriously meaningful results from your SEO campaign with us.

Who actually does my business’ SEO work?

Your campaign is led by Jeremy in Adelaide, and he is responsible for every piece of work on it. You will work and communicate with our local Australian team, not an offshore call centre.

Can we meet in person to discuss my business’ SEO?

Do you optimise for AI search as well as Google?

Yes, and it is part of every campaign rather than an upsell. Can I turn off my Google Ads after doing SEO?

We do not recommend turning off Google Ads immediately after commencing SEO services with us. However, over time and a seriously successful SEO campaign with Searchology, there will be scope to lower ad budgets and let organic traffic take the wheel.

How much do your SEO services cost?

Every SEO plan starts at $2,000+GST a month, month to month, with no lock-in contract. Where you land above that depends on your trade, your service area and how competitive the searches are, and you get a fixed monthly figure in writing before you commit. Our full SEO pricing is published up front.

What happens to my website and Google Business Profile if I stop?

They stay yours once your invoices are paid. Your domain and Google Business Profile are set up in your name wherever the platform allows, and we hand over access cleanly, with no hostage tactics. If we host your website, you can take a full export to another host, or keep it with us on a monthly hosting plan.
