The short version
AI search optimisation is the work of making your business the one that AI tools pick when someone asks them a question you should be answering. No, and be careful of anyone who does. AI answers vary between tools, between users and between one week and the next. What we can do is make your business the obvious, well-evidenced choice for the prompts that matter, then measure how often it is named and keep pushing that number up.
We agree a set of real customer prompts up front, run them across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot on a schedule, and record every mention and citation. You see the share of prompts where you are named, how that compares with competitors and how it moves month to month.
Some, and it converts well, because the person arrives already recommended. The bigger effect is earlier than the click: being named in the answer shapes the shortlist. We report referral traffic from AI tools where analytics can attribute it, and treat citations as the leading indicator.
If you want to appear in AI answers, no. Blocking GPTBot, PerplexityBot or Google-Extended removes you from the sources those tools can read and quote. Publishers protecting paid content sometimes have a reason to block; a service business almost never does. We check what your robots.txt is currently doing, because a lot of sites block these by accident.
It is not a ranking factor and no major AI tool has committed to using it, so it is not where we start. Clean HTML, correct schema and pages that answer the question are what actually get read. We are happy to add one, we just will not pretend it is the strategy.
After determining what “results” means for our clients, we create an SEO forecast and clearly communicate it. Having said that, it’s impossible to approximately pinpoint a specific ranking or amount of leads you will generate in “X” amount of time after investing in SEO. However, generally speaking we can begin to see an improvement in Google visibility within the first few weeks for certain keywords.
